Honoring Motherhood
Dedicated for all mothers and for my mother who taught me the art of flowers
As Mother’s Day approaches, we take this opportunity to commemorate all mothers—those who have played a wonderful role in the lives of their children, nephews, grandchildren, and beyond. We honor not only mothers but also those aunts who assume the role of a mother, grandmothers who care for us as if we were their own, and all those who have earned the title of motherhood.
Mother’s Day is a special day to let them know how important they are in our lives and to express gratitude for their existence. We pay tribute to mothers who are no longer with us, to those who are expecting, to those who care for their little ones and will continue to do so into adulthood, and to all those who have earned the virtue of being mothers, as well as those who plan to be.
However, it is not just a tribute for one day but for the entire year—a recognition of the conscientious and respectful role of motherhood. The role my mother played was remarkable; she molded me and made me strong, she taught and corrected me. It was thanks to her, and therefore also to my grandmother, who taught me to dream and to act, to fight and to work, to study and to grow.
My mother taught me to venture, to create what I deserve, and to decide on what I want. She taught me to be a person to serve. It was my mother who, from a very young age, taught me to arrange floral designs, allowed me to explore with flowers, create my own designs, and over the years began to give me the wings to open my own flower shop in the United States today.
It was because of her that I left my country to seek new horizons, new opportunities for myself, but what she did not know was that they were for her and for my family. It was and is because of her that we opened Legado Flowers’ for this Mother’s Day season.
Legado Flowers’ was a gift from her to me, and Legado Flowers’ is my gift to her—as a result of her love, the discipline she taught me, her perseverance, and strength. My mother in Colombia, with her flower shop that has served my hometown of Duitama, Boyacá for more than 25 years, is my inspiration and motivation to share my dream with you today. I know that it will slowly come true. We have taken the biggest step, and we will continue to improve step by step for you, to serve, to brighten the lives of the people we love with flowers, with a detail, with a gesture that every mother who receives this Mother’s Day will feel.
Flowers, roses, are one of the many languages through which we can express affection, appreciation, love, and admiration for that daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend. It’s a language that will never go out of style because just as flowers grow, so do they—mothers—who help their children grow and flourish. It’s an honor for us at Legado Flowers’ to make Mother’s Day a tribute and a thanksgiving to them, to bring beautiful and strong flowers, arrangements made with care and meaning for those who deserve it all!
With gratitude and love,
Sara Diaz-Ginnetto
